Kansas City Convention & Entertainment Facilities
Encompassing more than 800,000 square feet, the Kansas City Convention & Entertainment Facilities can serve all your meeting needs under one roof with 388,800 square feet of contiguous column-free exhibit space, another 55,000 square feet of space on two levels, a 2,400-seat fine arts theater and a renovated 10,700-seat arena. One of America’s largest green ballrooms—the 46,484-square-foot Grand Ballroom—is certified LEED Silver, boasting waterless plumbing, energy-efficient heating & cooling and one of the most sophisticated lighting systems in the world. Crown Center
Home to the international headquarters of Hallmark Cards, Inc., the 85-acre Crown Center is frequently referred to as a “city within a city.” The mixed-use community melds residential and office spaces with innovative shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. Crown Center Square houses live music performances, the city’s only public outdoor ice skating rink and several large fountains.
Kansas City Power and Light District
The new eight-block Power & Light District in downtown Kansas City links the Kansas City Convention Center to the Sprint Center. The $850 million development is home to more than 50 restaurants, bars, entertainment venues and retail outlets.
Sprint Center
On the eastern edge of the new entertainment district is the state-of-the-art, 18,500-seat Sprint Center. Sprint Center is Kansas City's home for sports, concerts, family shows and collegiate competitions. A cornerstone of Kansas City's downtown revitalization, Sprint Center is an award winning, state-of-the-art arena that annually exceeds attendance and financial projections by aggressively booking diverse entertainment events.
Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts
Designed by world-renowned architect, Moshe Safdie, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts sits on a hill just south of the Kansas City Convention Center. It is the home of the Kansas City Symphony, the Lyric Opera, Kansas City Ballet and other arts organizations. The facility contains a 1,600-seat symphonic concert hall and a 1,800-seat proscenium theater for ballet, opera and other productions.
Union Station
Kansas City’s Union Station is the second-largest working train station in the country. This fully-restored, 1914 landmark is home to an interactive family science center, planetarium and large-screen 3D movie theatre, live theatre, a railroad museum, as well as shops and restaurants. The Station also plays host to international traveling museum exhibits, such as the Diana, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibit and Real Pirates. A site on the National Register of Historical Places, the Station also is home to many of the City’s leading business and education organizations. In addition, Union Station houses the City’s main post office, the City’s Election Board and an IRS office. Union Station also continues to operate as the second largest operating train station in the United States, with several Amtrak trains that stop at the Station every day.
